Job Title: Middle School Math Teacher (Grades 7 & 8)
Location: Burgin Independent School
Reports To: Principal
Position Summary: The Middle School Math Teacher at Burgin Independent School will provide engaging, standards-aligned mathematics instruction to students in grades 7 and 8. This role involves developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment that supports academic growth and mathematical understanding.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Instruction and Curriculum Implementation: - Plan and deliver mathematics instruction aligned with Kentucky Academic Standards for grades 7 and 8. - Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. - Incorporate technology and hands-on learning experiences to enhance mathematical understanding. - Design and implement engaging lessons that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
2. Assessment and Data Analysis: - Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress. - Analyze student performance data to guide instructional decisions and interventions. - Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students and communicate progress to families.
3. Classroom Management: - Establish and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment. - Implement effective behavior management strategies to promote student engagement and responsibility. - Foster a classroom culture of respect, collaboration, and academic excellence.
4. Collaboration and Communication: - Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and support staff to enhance student learning. - Participate in team meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and professional development opportunities. - Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
5. Professional Responsibilities: - Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation. - Stay current with best practices in mathematics education and instructional strategies. - Participate in school-wide activities, initiatives, and committees as needed.
Qualifications: - Valid Kentucky teaching certification in Middle School Mathematics (Grades 5-9) or Secondary Mathematics (Grades 8-12). - Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field. - Strong knowledge of mathematics content and pedagogy for middle school learners. - Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications: - Master’s degree in Education or Mathematics. - Experience teaching middle school mathematics. - Proficiency in integrating technology into the mathematics classroom.
Work Schedule: - Full-time position aligned with the school calendar.
